The Hollyburn Heritage
Society was formed in 1998 with two main goals in mind:
1. to restore Hollyburn Ski
Lodge for future generations to enjoy, and
2. to collect, assemble,
catalogue and share the history of Vancouver's North Shore mountains; in
particular, Hollyburn, Black, and Strachan.
Incorporated in April 2000
and receiving registered charitable status with Canada Customs & Revenue
Agency, we welcome financial donations for which you will receive an
income tax deduction receipt. Your donations support HHS projects that
advance the Society's mandate. B.C. Parks & Cypress Bowl Recreations do
not receive any funds from HHS.
HHS membership is by way of
donation: financial - volunteer time - items (photographs, articles,
etc.). Cypress Bowl Recreations has permitted HHS to mount panels & some
artifacts in the 'back room' of Hollyburn Ski Lodge to relate this
history.

Our Services
The Hollyburn Heritage
Society is a non-profit organization and will provide the following
services free of charge:
1. HHS will answer your
e-mail enquiries regarding the history of Vancouver's North Shore
mountains and historic cabins on Hollyburn Ridge. GO TO "Contact Us"
page.
2. Since 1998, HHS has made
many presentations to community groups. Topics have included Hollyburn
Ski Lodge, Westlake Lodge, the Hollyburn Chairlift, Changing Landscapes,
and Hollyburn's Champion Ski jumpers and Ski Racers (1928- 1945). Time
permitting, we would be delighted to make a presentation to your
community group.
3. In 2005, Donald Grant and
Cathie Ratz, Vice-Principal, Lions Bay School, developed a Hollyburn
Mountain History Curriculum for Grade 2/3 students. This project
received funding from Gerry Hardman's nephews and nieces as a memorial
tribute to their uncle. (They also provided funding for Gerry's Snow
Post located near Hollyburn Ski Lodge.)
HHS will provide
assistance, information and materials for Lower Mainland teachers who
are interested in developing lessons about the history of Hollyburn
Mountain.
